Oenology - The Scientific Art of Winemaking
Vinsura’s ability to produce an eclectic range of premium wines year-on-year stems from our unique understanding of wine-making as a process. We consider every harvest as not simply an opportunity to create a liquid piece of art but a symphony of technique and oenological expertise.
At our winery, viniculture is but the beginning of an incredible transformation. Once harvested, each yield of perfectly cultivated grapes is carefully guided through several meticulously controlled stages, including crushing, blending, bottling and prolonged aging, towards a full and rich maturity.
Vinsura’s expert team determines every aspect of this process, right from the grape varietal to the time required for fermentation to the wine making process, based on the wine being produced. Our wine artistes are trained to classify wines by appearance, taste and smell, and simply need to sample a wine after a specific period of time to determine if it is ready for packaging. Once bottled and labelled certain wines can be left to age until they reach peak flavour, while others are ready for immediate distribution.
Inevitably, every aspect of the grape growing process leaves its mark. The same vine grown in a different microclimate, soil type, with a different vine training system will produce a different quality of grape, which in turn could affect the fermentation process. This is why we take special care when making decisions regarding quality-manipulating factors such as field placement, slope, air flow, and sun exposure.
Correct irrigation styles and efficient water draining systems are also extremely important aspects in our production process and are closely monitored to avoid excessive soil saturation. Consistently effective pest and disease management combined with ideal harvesting techniques ensures that the months of rigorous effort put in to bringing a flawless harvest full circle reflects in every single beautifully perfect grape.
